Scope

This policy applies to personal information we collect through StockWatch. StockWatch is a business service used by organisations and their authorised personnel; we do not knowingly collect personal information from consumers or from anyone under 18. The retail pricing and availability information reported by StockWatch is not personal information and is not covered by this policy.

What we collect

Why we collect it

To provide and secure StockWatch, authenticate users, operate the features your organisation subscribes to, maintain audit records, provide support, and meet legal obligations. We do not sell personal information and we do not use it for advertising.

Consent and your organisation’s role

We collect personal information with consent, or as otherwise permitted by PIPA. Most personal information in StockWatch is provided to us by a subscribing organisation about its own personnel, and is processed on that organisation’s instructions. That organisation is responsible for having the authority to provide it and for the accuracy of what it submits. Where your employer controls your account, requests about that information may be directed to them.

You are responsible for the accuracy of information you enter yourself.

Who we share it with

Only with service providers who process it on our behalf under contract — currently Stripe, Inc. (payment processing) and our hosting and email delivery providers — with your own organisation’s administrators, where required or permitted by law, and with a successor in connection with a sale or reorganisation of our business. Some service providers may store or process data outside Canada; where that is the case, the information may be accessible to foreign authorities under the laws of that jurisdiction.

How we protect it

We take steps that are reasonable in the circumstances and appropriate to the sensitivity of the information, including access controls, encryption in transit, hashed passwords, multi-factor authentication and audit logging.

No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we do not guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for keeping your credentials confidential.

How long we keep it

Only as long as necessary for the purposes described above, or as required by law. After that we destroy or anonymise it. Where PIPA requires, we retain information used to make a decision about an individual for at least one year.

Your rights

You may ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or withdraw consent, although withdrawing consent may end your ability to use StockWatch. Contact the Privacy Officer above. We respond within the time PIPA allows. In some cases we may be unable to provide access, for example where doing so would reveal personal information about another person or our confidential commercial information; where that happens we will explain why.

Complaints

If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia at oipc.bc.ca.

Changes

We may update this policy. Any update will be posted on this page with a revised date, and applies from the date it is posted.
